Ho bloody Hum!

Here's one for the "tell us something we didn't know already" file.
A report has just been released detailing the decade of drug taking by the West Coast Eagles.
Yep, seems they were all off their faces on the illegal stuff, but was one ever tested or reported for it? Not bloody likely!
And "the 2006 Grand Final is tainted" the report claims.
Oh really? Ya reckon?

There were players attempting to sniff up any white lines they saw painted on the field! And running around with the pupils of their eyes dilated to the size of dinner plates!
(And don't tell me amphetamines aren't performance enhancing when it comes to endurance and stamina.

Why the hell hasn't West Coast been stripped of this Grand Final win before this, ...just as Olympians are when it's later discovered they were on illegal drugs?
(And no, I do NOT think it should then be subsequently awarded to Sydney....just stripped off West Coast.)

The sorry saga of Ben Cousins is still being played out even now.
Chris Mainwaring is long dead from an overdose, ..... Daniel Kerr has since continued his history of assault and remains "well-known" to police.

Well well well what a surprise like I said in a previous post there is always time for a minor scandal.
Journalists always leave it for days out before the season starts.
I haven't read the story in the paper but it looks like the AFL knew more than anyone what was going on and did nothing.

Then we have the Collingwood player DeGoey story. His dog ate his homework or some kinda crap.
I really believe Collingwood football club has a serious issue with not only it's players getting into strife but the obvious Upper management imposing so much fear into these young boys that they have to cock up these imaginary stories.

What's an AFL season without a little scandal days out!!! :?

OK and a hello to all .. its been a long winter (for me)/summer (for you) and its time for some serious footy. I have been out of touch so long, I even forgot all my log-in info  I saw the 'Pies took it on the chin against the WB (In the States, "the WB" is strictly an entertainment channel on the cable).

I figured if I wanted to find out what's going on and who's doing it to whom, I'd checkin with Swannee for the unexpurgated version not fit for prime time. Is there still gay footy? Did everybody survive Mardi Gras? Who's peeking out of the closet? What's happening for anti-homophobia and "first residents" inclusion programs?

I'm looking for the news I can never get in my newspaper, Swannee .. they don't know/could care less about Aussie football.

Welcome TRIPP PA!!!
Thought we must have lost you there for a while! Even had to re-approve your two posts this morning, but you should be good to go direct now!
How's life in the Penn!

Sad to report that juicy scandals were not all that evident over the off season.
No rapes...(at least none reported), ...no nudie-pics (DAMN! I loves them nudie-pics!), and apart from de Goey's little lie about how he got his broken fist, (bar room brawl actually, NOT playing with his dog) things were looking grim.
Of course the Essendon drug scandal CONTINUES to boil along nicely, despite the team and the AFL doing there very best to put it to bed. Who knew how much etc.

Over in the West a report has just been released detailing the HUGE drug problem within the team back then, that apparently everybody knew about, including the AFL, but nobody did anything about.
West Coast appear to have won the 2006 Grand Final pilled to the gills! Gee, who didn't know that!
Ben Cousens, ...you might remember him from multiple appearances in the media in various stages of being drug-fucked, continues his ever downward spiral of self-destruction, but we have all lost interest in his protracted suicide years ago. Chris Mainwaring, ...(a team mate and buddy of Cousens) O.D.-ed and died some time back....appears as though Cousens may have made the final delivery of the means to do it.......

The AFL now continues its agenda of becoming a social engineering body, with only a minor interest in occasionally running a few games of men's footy.
Just about every round is "designated" to some cause TOTALLY unrelated to men's football.
We even had what was supposed to be "gay" round, with rainbow goal flags, and a rainbow arc for the fifty, but not once, ...and yet NOT EVEN ONCE was the word "GAY" actually ever mentioned. All we got was "DIVERSE" !
Just another lot of piss-&-wind from the AFL!

Then of course we've had the much over-hyped women's version, in line with the current "Kick-arse-chick" mindset.
With full-time scores of around three, maybe four goals it hardly sets the world on fire, ......and once the crowd has to actually pay to see the sorry sight you can guarantee the stands will be as empty as those soccer/cricket wastelands we see on TV.
Other than that, ...there's not been a lot.
No comings-out, ...despite having "Diverse Round"!
Not even a murmur of another sex-scandal from the usually oh-so-reliable St Kilda!

As to the "first residents" as you call them, ...they always get their "Indigenous Round", but now, perhaps after the Adam Goodes debacle, they too have had to take something of a back-seat, as the AFL, along with all the media here frantically leap about trying to convince us that allowing so much Muslim immigration is such a wonderful thing. Of course this means we need a designated "Multicultural Round"....but to the astute observer, certain "cultures" seem far more evident than others.

Personally I didn't Mardi Gras this year, but was quite shocked to see how the once great Parade has now degenerated into just mobs of odds-&-sods wearing sort of matching T-shirts shuffling along behind a truck with a crappy texta-coloured sign in the back! Of course it is NO LONGER "The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras", but just the plain old "Sydney Mardi Gras" now, .....but let me tell you, there are still one or two bright sparks, but nowadays standards have DEFINITELY slipped for sure!
I've been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans and have to say their parades with those huge gorgeous floats etc. are truly wonderful! (I still have a big box of those beads they throw out to the crowd. Expensive Excess baggage on the plane, but I wasn't going to leave all those memories behind, whatever the cost!)

In the gay world, we now seem to be threatened by a Trojan Horse type attack by those labeling themselves as "queer".
There's now a not so subtle push to have that word used as a blanket term for what used to be GLTBI, just replacing them all.
Personally I didn't wait this long to have "gay" become an acceptable non-derogatory term decent enough to be able to say in public, only to now be know as a bloody "queer"....(Swannee spits to the side!)

Anyway, perhaps I digress, ...but there you have the current State of the Nation from Swannee!
Again, welcome back!
Keep posting!

Welcome back TrippPA.

All you need to know is that Swannee is still on his high horse (bit harder as he has gotten older to get off) and that he has an answer for everything, barely right, but still dishing out those answers. Hehe.

Anti-homophobia seems to be tokenism at its finest. While the other minority are very well looked after.
A big lesbian made out with her girlfriend after winning the inaugural women's MVP last night. For the majority of supporters it's nothing for a lesbian AFL woman footballer to pash her 'wife' on tv. God forbid we see the day when the boys lock lips in full view of everyone. Scandalous at its best, homophobic at its worst.

Cheers

Would that be me, ...or the horse?

Undoubtedly a supreme example boisayum!
And yes, homophobia at it worst for sure.
Sickens me constantly that hetero men in particular seem to get all sexually aroused by the sight of lesbian action.....as if they are ever going to be asked to join in!
(Of course they all think that lesbians are only doing it because no man is available, ....and live on a diet of those faux-lesbians seen in hetero porn. Honestly when did anyone ever see a GENUINE lesbian who looked like those?)
At least Matthew Mitcham actually gave his BOYF a kiss after his big victory. (Of course Ian Thorpe wasn't gay back then....  )
However let's not forget the public criticism from one such as Sam Newman when the Footy Show went live to the American Football draft and one anxious candidate gave his boyfriend a celebratory kiss after his own selection!
Now if that had been two lesbians........

I saw some coverage of the women's league banquet. At least in the coverage I saw, the lesbian angle was not exploited. I'm just imagining the stink that will be raised when Swannee arrives at the Brownlow banquet on the arm of his favorite hunk from St. Kilda. THAT would be earth-shattering news :o .. yeah, right.

I am grateful for your update on the various issues.

In reference to things Ozzie, I have enjoyed watching "The Dressmaker" both for the very good plot and acting and for the gorgeous hunk that played the love interest/town footie captain. I guess that I've watched it about 15 times.

I hope I can do as well at tipping this week as I did last .. I tipped Sydney to no avail in week 1, so I'm almost afraid to tip them again this week. I figure they've got to win sooner or later .. same for the 'Pies.

That would be Liam Hemsworth. (Brother to Chris.) Both are VERY easy on the eye, but when it comes to actually acting, neither seem to be particularly gifted in that art....but for my money I think Liam, whilst no expert, might just be a little better.
Suffered...(endured?) Chris in the all-girl recent version of "Ghostbusters".....geez what an absolutely craptacular movie!
Bad wardrobe for Liam though.
When you do get to see him in his underwear, it's boxers!
In Australia in 1951, NO man wore boxers! It was only briefs. (What has now become known as tighty-whities.)
Either Jockey or Bond's ....or cheaper generic ones from chain stores. Boxers were an American style, and not at all fancied by the average bloke here in Australia. Don't think they even sold them here back then.
Did the producers opt for boxers because they thought that briefs might be too revealing? Or to please a female audience? Either way, it was a bad decision by wardrobe and an historically inaccurate one too.
I would far prefer to have seen him in his white briefs!
Not a bad movie though....I was more than a little fearful it would turn out to be a chic-flick.....a genre to which Swannee is totally allergic, and would go so far as to feign cardiac arrest to avoid!

Congrats on tipping a perfect round too TrippPA....(can never type that without thinking of the damned penile piercing thing! )
It's quite hard to get nine right so early in the season when the teams are pretty much unknown quantities.
Now of course the problem is how to maintain that standard. There are some hard ones this week.
If the Swans can't get up over Collingwood back home at the SCG this week I reckon their season is gone!
Of course Buckley is sweating on a win to save his own arse as coach, .....but for me the care factor on that particular matter doesn't rate at all!
