ARRRRRGGGGHHHH!

Postby swannee » Sun Mar 26, 2017 4:14 pm

Hey, was Saturday 24th a tipster's nightmare , ...or what?

The Swans, St Kilda,Gold Coast, and Hawthorn ALL go down to teams considered "lower" than they are ????
Hawthorn and the Swans in particular!
And everybody had Brisbane down as almost definite for the wooden spoon, ...and yet?
Bugger me, Round One is ALWAYS so difficult!

There were some " interesting" results over the weekend. I don't think you could have asked for a better start to the season with some close games, a few upsets and a few predictable results.

Hawthorn wont be a top 4 side this year - the experience, leadership and general mongrel of Mitchell and Lewis is impossible to replace - both played well in their new teams.
Port's win over Sydney was a fab result for Port...not so for Sydney. I am thinking that complacency got the better of them. No team, no team, can be taken as a give me !! There is too much at stake now for all concerned....lives and careers depend on every minute of every game. Crows again showed that in Adelaide they will be a formidable force.
North Melb will need a couple of seasons before they are any good...how Scott has kept his job for 8 years astounds me. Drew Petrie proved me wrong with his crotch clasping salute to NM - still its early days.

It's regrettable that its becoming so rare that I have to mention it, however over the w/e a couple of instances of excellent sportsmanship were displayed ie Crows/GWS and NM/WC. Even though footy is a business and an almighty $$$ enterprise I hope there is still a place for good sportsmen in the game.

Some great football.
I think every team except for Fremantle showed something either current or future wise that was great.

My boys lost by 43 points but I was quite ok with it. We could have been blown away earlier but showed something.

Ports win over your boys swannee was good but I would not be that upset by it. I think Port is going to be a top 4 side now. I did tip them to squeeze in the 8 but my mind is changed.

Essendons win was probably the most surprising and I will go further and say the Hawks won't make the 8.

A crowd record round 1, albums on seats is a good look. But that ruck rule was controversial again. I think it was the Hawks v bombers game where the umpire mistake a player for nominating himself for the ruck when he was just marking his man. I think common sense would have prevailed there. Why would hawthorn nominate their small player go up.

Oddly enough, although I tipped Richmond, ....about halfway through the third quarter I too found myself barracking for Collingwood!
Weird!
Is it because Richmond have suddenly become unlikeable, ...or what? :Puzzled: :Puzzled: :Puzzled:

Guilty.

Look forward to the wheels falling off though.

Game skill wise was poor, but the game was so open, it was great. The game has become more beautiful to watch.

Redeemed my last week's poor effort with a perfect 9 out of 9 round!
Anyone else manage this feat too?

WHACKO !!!
Congratulations Mr Swannee....- well done indeed. :notworthy1:

BTW I heard that Mr Boisayum had a stroke yesterday afternoon and I am not talking about his bedroom activities hahahha his boys very nearly pulled it off !!!!

Dangerfield/Selwood as combination were almost as good as it gets in Geelongs late win over NMelb, I had Geelong gone late in the third quarter, just goes to show that it' s not over until it' s over.

I only got 6 tips.
Not a good week at all.

Finnis no difference between either stroke, they come too early, I go home disappointed.
Carlton are now the 3rd qtr specialists. It's pretty much the only quarter we turn up to play.

0-2 hawks
0-2 swans
0-2 blues
0-2 pies
0-2 dockers
0-2 suns
0-2 kangaroos
0-2 saints

8 teams yet to register a win. Yikes!

Boisayum, whilst watching your team yesterday the reason for their poor showing became suddenly apparent.
And its one that would be SO easily fixed too!
It's their bloody shorts!
They are some truly weird design and cut!
From the back it looks like they are wearing baby nappies, but in the front the centre seam is cut so flat and tight that the shorts are quite literally cutting their nuts off!
You can see how uncomfortable it must be, and some blokes have taken the only option available and gone for two sizes too big to try to bet a bit of room for the genitals!
You can easily tell those by the baggy daks!
The others are moving about like they are in danger of being castrated at any minute.
Poor Sylvani took a knock and had to be assisted off. As hje was leaving the ground it was plain for all to see that the poor bloke's dick and nuts had become SO seriously entangled that he probably needed to be raced back to the rooms to have those shorts surgically removed!

Get the team new shorts, simple!
Not those idiotically cut ones you have now, but some like all the other teams wear.
You can't play footy if every move you make threatens to rip your nuts and dick off!

I was absolutely amazed that I did the same 9/9 result from the other side of the world. With 5 wins in week one, that gives me 14 for the year. That may mean it can only be downhill from here.

I got 8 out of 9 this week...

I was certain Hawthorn would bounce back at the MCG - but I was clearly mistaken there.

As for my boys - I never gave up. Especially after Tomahawk's goal on the 3/4 time bell.. my whiskers started to twitch in anticipation. I was willing them home and screaming and screaming in the last quarter. So much so, that the whole pub ended up crowded round the screen to see what all the fuss was all about. Needless to say, I got many pats on the back for my endeavour..

Sheer relief to get out of that one with the four points.

GO CATS!!
If only purr-fection was for real!

Well done Mr Puss.
Geez its been a while since I held the attention of the whole bar

In the Geelong match 4th quarter, the skills, both individually and combined, of Selwood and Dangerfield were awesome to watch, nonetheless mixture of talent and luck got them the chocolates, it wouldn't do them well to leave their run too late in future games though - playing catch-up can be perilous. Hawthorn did that a couple of times last year and it cost them dearly.

OK .. so I believed Swannee and tipped the Swans over my Magpies. Tip with your head, I said to myself, not with your heart. And look where it got me. Soooooooo, Swannee, I have no chance to go 9/9 two weeks in a row. It must have been a barn-burner of a match. I hope my tips fare better the rest of the weekend.
